Thank You, Tony Sutton & More

This past Thursday we were very grateful and honored to have Tony Sutton Sr., an Akron area police officer of 20+ years, speak to the Akron North Football Team. Officer Sutton gave a powerful personal talk to the team. As an Akron North Alumni, his words to the team were well received, respected and valuable.

I also want to send a special thank you out to Jen and Stephen Fitch, Jeff and Ellen Kempf, Michelle Maas, and Karyn Russ, who have been providing and serving pregame meals every other week to the Akron North football team. Your efforts and the time you donate does not go unnoticed. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity!

The donations we receive continue to help us equip young men and women with the tools they need to succeed on and off the field. Help make a difference in someone’s life today and donate at FullyEquipped.co/Donate.

Backpacks, Socks, and School Supplies

Thanks to your generosity and donations we were able to stop by North High School after practice last night and surprise the football team with backpacks, game socks, and some school supplies! They were extremely grateful. A player mentioned that this would be his first-time starting school with a backpack.

Know that your donations go a long way and your contributions do not go unnoticed! Good luck to the team this Friday against Warrensville. Go Vikings!

Akron North: Head Coach Dru Joyce

Tonight we were incredibly thankful to have St. Vincent St. Mary Head Basketball Coach Dru Joyce speak with the Akron North football team and girls basketball team. His testimony and words of wisdom were invaluable.

Coach Dru taught us that:

• Even if your dreams change, always continue to dream.

• We should strive to be the best we can be at whatever we do.

• It is all about the work you put it. You must be willing to put in the work.

• You cannot always control the outcome, but you can control your attitude and the effort you put in.

• The three most important choices he made in college were: 1) Accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. 2) Proposing to his now wife of 39 years.  3) Persevering and graduating college.

Thank you again, Coach Dru, for taking the time out of your schedule to speak with us this evening!

We are excited for the football team to kick off their season this Friday with their first game against Beachwood. Thank you, everyone, for a great night! In the words of Coach Dru, “Always keep dreaming!” Go Vikings!

Your donations continue to help us equip young athletes with the tools they need to succeed on and off the field. Make a difference in the life of a young athlete today and donate at FullyEquipped.co/Donate.

God Bless,

Akron North Football: 1st Week of Practice

Tonight we stopped by North High School to catch the end of the 3rd day of football practice for the team. Head Coach Haslem was in good spirits, smiling and said the team needs to continue to adapt and overcome.

All thanks to your generous donations, we were able to provide some Gatorade while delivering shower towels, body wash, and deodorant for the team. Honestly, you guys have been awesome and we can’t thank you enough!

Within the next couple of weeks, our big goal is to provide cleats for the team. We really need your help on this one! Any donation, no matter how small, truly helps. 100% of donations go towards purchasing equipment for the team. Just $40 gets a kid a pair of cleats!

We are able to accept electronic donations via Paypal or Stripe at FullyEquipped.co/Donate

Lastly, we are excited to announce that St. Vincent St. Mary Head Basketball Coach Dru Joyce will be speaking at our August meeting! The team will be preparing for their first game against Beachwood High School.

Looking forward to a great month!

Akron North: Athletic Director Willie McGee

Tonight we had our 2nd meeting for FullyEquipped at Akron North High School! We started with a great core workout led by Kara Gooden, followed by a meal, and then words of wisdom from St. Vincent-St. Mary Athletic Director Willie McGee.

Willie taught us that:
• We can’t always decide how our book or story starts, but we can begin to rewrite our story and choose how it finishes.
• Sometimes we have to take a few steps backward before we can begin to move forward.
• There are going to be people in your life and your network that want to help you succeed. Take advantages of those opportunities!

Those are just a few highlights and things we can take away from tonight. Thank you again, Willie, for taking the time out of your schedule to speak with us this evening!

Thank you, everyone, for a great night! In the words of Willie McGee, “Be the best you can be!”

On another positive note, you guys have been amazing with physical donations this week! So much so that we can already begin to check a few things off the list! Here are some ways you can still help.

Akron North High School Kickoff Meeting

Tonight we had our official kickoff meeting for FullyEquipped at Akron North High School including a workout, meal, and speaker.

What did we learn tonight? There are two things you can control in life: your attitude and your effort.

It was exciting to finally get things kicked off!

Thank you, Sonil Haslem, Pam Murphy, Kara Gooden and many more for a great night! As Coach Haslem would say, “Carpe Diem!”

God Bless,

Mark Murphy
